Big Brother 14 introduced 12 new houseguests and hid four returning veterans until the premiere. The mystery players turned out to be Britney, Dan, Janelle and Boogie, who entered as coaches and each drafted three newcomers. Their players competed for the $500,000 grand prize while a coach could earn $100,000 if someone from their team won. Below are the original preseason bios plus the confirmed coach reveal.
CBS released the bios for the 12 new Big Brother 14 houseguests before the season premiere. The cast was a pretty diverse group with some interesting characters, and their preseason answers gave us our first look at how they planned to play.
Big Brother 14 New Houseguests
Ashley
Hometown: Pittsburgh, Pa.
Living: West Hollywood, Calif.
Occupation: Owner of a mobile spray tanning company
Preseason strategy: Ashley planned to let the house see a ditzy blonde while secretly reading people and playing everyone.

Favorite activities: Hiking, yoga, painting, meditating, making dream boards, sunbathing, swimming, snowboarding and boating.
Most difficult part about living inside the Big Brother house: Not being able to have your own space and alone time. I love being around people, but I’m definitely one to have my special me time.
Strategy for winning Big Brother: Play everyone! I will come off as the dumb ditzy blonde, but take it to the end because I’m actually really smart and good at reading through people’s lies.
Which past Big Brother cast member did you like most or least? Jeff is my favorite because I just want to eat him up…he was so loyal and kind…especially to Jordan. Jerry is my least favorite since he just floated his way through the game. I’m not a fan of floaters.
What are you afraid of? Mosquitoes.
What accomplishment are you most proud of? Starting my own business and making the move out to the West Coast.
My life’s motto is… Give LOVE to the things in life that you love and give no attention to the things you don’t love.
What would you take into the house and why? Music, because it keeps me sane and uplifts my mood in minutes. My dream book because I love looking at it everyday. Finally, frankincense oil, because it heals everything and makes you forever young.
What would you do if Big Brother made you famous? Change the world one day at a time and show people that giving love and being open to learning about love (not so literally) will change your attitude and make you happy forever.
Danielle
Hometown: Grant, Ala.
Living: Tuscaloosa, Ala.
Occupation: Nurse
Preseason strategy: Danielle wanted to look unintelligent and non-threatening so stronger players would be targeted ahead of her.

Favorite activities: I love to dance. I could do that all day, everyday. I love photography, scrapbooking, working out and swimming. Anything that keeps me active.
Most difficult part about living inside the Big Brother house: Being cut off from the outside world and not being able to listen to music or take pictures.
Strategy for winning Big Brother: To be considered someone that isn’t a threat and someone that doesn’t seem very smart. The people that are a threat are usually eliminated first.
Which past Big Brother cast member did you like most or least? I love Jordan and I can’t stand Rachel. Rachel is beyond annoying and fake with her whining and backstabbing. Jordan seemed honest, down to earth and fun.
What are you afraid of? I am terrified of snakes, dying young, heights and never finding my true love.
What accomplishment are you most proud of? Finally graduating Nursing school and passing my NCLEX on the first try.
My life’s motto is… love everything as if you were about to lose it.
What would you take into the house and why? My camera because I love taking pictures; my iPad so I can play games and listen to my music; and my cell phone because I’m a chatterbug and love talking to people.
What would you do if Big Brother made you famous? Be a happy camper. I guess I would deal with the new challenges that I faced with fame, but I wouldn’t hate it. I wouldn’t mind being famous.
Frank
Hometown: Marion, Ark.
Living: Naples, Fla.

Most difficult part about living inside the Big Brother house: Making sure my hair is camera ready all the time.
Strategy for winning Big Brother: Absolutely. Numbers are important, so I want to set up a “Dream Team,” all playing certain roles. I would need a Larry Bird, a good country boy or girl who’s honest and competitive; a Charles Barkley, an unmovable object possibly with a bit of a harsh attitude; a Patrick Ewing, somebody that knows the game and is reliable; a Michael Jordan, somebody who’s a baller that can win competitions; and me as Magic Johnson, friendly guy playing point and running the show.
Which past Big Brother cast member did you like most or least? Most: Chill Town – they were great at the game and great at entertaining. Least: Daniele – she whines and complains too much and was ungrateful to her dad for the chance to even make it on the show.
What are you afraid of? I don’t care for spiders or snakes.
What accomplishment are you most proud of? Paying for my braces while I was working through college.
My life’s motto is… the difference between a stranger and a friend is an introduction.
What would you take into the house and why? A phone…for the main purpose of getting information about the game from the outside world.
What would you do if Big Brother made you famous? Do my best to make it sustainable, and try not to make an ass out of myself!
Ian
Hometown: Pittsburgh, Pa.
Living: New Orleans, La.
Occupation: Engineering student at Tulane University

Favorite activities: I really enjoy biking whenever I get the chance. A grueling bike ride is excellent.
Most difficult part about living inside the Big Brother house: Being disconnected from sports, family, friends, internet and TV.
Strategy for winning Big Brother: I want to make an alliance with about six people and I’d like to be seen as maybe the fourth strongest in the group, that way it wouldn’t be me going up if the other side gained the power.
Which past Big Brother cast member did you like most or least? My all-time favorite has to be Dr. Will from BB2/BB7. He played the game with absolute finesse both times, and as a 10 year old watching BB2, I definitely would say I idolized him back then.
What are you afraid of? I’m definitely afraid of venomous snakes and any large, deadly animals, simply because they’re extremely dangerous. I also have a real fear of vomiting because it’s really painful and a fear of drowning since I feel like it’d be one of the worst ways to die.
What accomplishment are you most proud of? My proudest accomplishment so far in life is going to Tulane, far away from my family and old friends, studying the hardest major I could possibly take, and surviving it for three years.
My life’s motto is… I came here to kick butt and chew bubblegum, but I’m all out of bubblegum.
What would you take into the house and why? My collection of glasses: I have these glasses that can go with everything I wear. A picture of my family: I definitely will really miss them. My guitar: I recently picked up guitar and feel it’s an awesome way to relieve stress. Also, it does get me a fair amount of attention from girls.
What would you do if Big Brother made you famous? I’d try to live my life normally again. I don’t really have any intentions of going into acting or anything like that. I’d probably just try to go back to Chemical Engineering and do what I’ve always wanted to do.
Jenn
Hometown: Brooklyn, N.Y.

What are you afraid of? Roller coasters. Not too keen on heights either.
What accomplishment are you most proud of? I’m so very proud of every album I’ve ever worked on. A piece of my heart and soul are located within.

What would you take into the house and why? Guitar, a laptop to record my music and a flat iron.
What would you do if Big Brother made you famous? Head right back into the studio and record a full length album and then head out on the road with my band and tour. Start a music program to help underprivileged kids stay focused. Music has saved my life and I want to give back to what has been so good to me.

Strategy for winning Big Brother: Of course I have a strategy, but is it smart to tell you? Is this a trick question?
Which past Big Brother cast member did you like most or least? I like Evil Dick the most because he’s “real.” I don’t like the red headed girl that got engaged to one of the other guys….Rachel? She thinks a lot of herself and her laugh is so annoying!
What are you afraid of? Snakes and creepy crawlers, sometimes heights and I don’t like the dark either – I watch too many horror movies.
My life’s motto is… Everything happens for a reason… it’s a cliché, but true.
What would you take into the house and why? Chapstick so my lips stay soft, and a toothbrush because you have to brush your teeth – DUH!
What would you do if Big Brother made you famous? I would try to keep a semi-low profile and stay as humble as possible. I would love to donate money to charities because I know what it’s like to not have a lot.
Kara
Hometown: Orlando, Fla.

The Big Brother 14 Coaches
Big Brother 14 began with four returning veterans serving as coaches rather than regular houseguests. Each coach drafted three newcomers. If one of those players won Big Brother, the coach would receive a separate $100,000 prize.
Together, Britney, Dan, Janelle and Boogie entered BB14 with 27 previous Head of Household and Power of Veto wins.
Britney
From: Tulsa, Oklahoma
Occupation: Pharmaceutical sales representative

Team Britney: Shane, Willie and JoJo
Britney returned two years after becoming one of the most popular personalities of BB12. Her sharp commentary, humor and strong social relationships carried her to the final four, but she never recognized that the Brigade alliance had controlled the game around her.
She entered BB14 with four competition wins and a much clearer understanding of what had gone wrong the first time. Britney described herself as less naïve and said she had something to prove. As a coach, her obvious strength was helping players read the social game without becoming blind to the kind of hidden alliance that ended her BB12 run.
Dan
From: Detroit, Michigan
Occupation: Teacher and high-school football coach
Previous season: Big Brother 10
Previous finish: Winner
Jury vote: 7-0
Competition record: 3 HOH, 2 POV
Team Dan: Kara, Danielle and Jodi
Dan entered BB14 as the only unanimous Big Brother US winner at that time. He deliberately lowered his threat level early in BB10, survived the collapse of his original alliance and took control during the second half of the season before defeating Memphis with a 7-0 jury vote.
Away from Big Brother, Dan continued teaching and coaching high-school football, making him the returning player whose real-life job most closely matched the season’s coaching twist. His résumé combined patience, deception and an ability to persuade people without always looking like the person controlling them.
Janelle
From: Minnesota
Occupation: Stay-at-home mother
Previous seasons: Big Brother 6 and Big Brother 7: All-Stars
Previous finishes: Third place in both seasons
Competition record: 6 HOH, 7 POV
BB7 record: 9 HOH/POV wins
Other distinction: America’s Favorite Juror
Team Janelle: Wil, Ashley and Joe
Janelle returned as Big Brother’s most accomplished competition player. Across BB6 and BB7 she had accumulated 13 HOH and veto victories. Nine came during All-Stars alone — four HOHs and five vetoes — producing the single-season competition record highlighted during her BB14 return.
Despite reaching the final three twice, Janelle had never reached the final two. Her reputation was built on repeatedly winning safety while sitting near the top of the opposing alliance’s target list. By 2012 she was married, had a baby and jokingly described herself as the “real housewife of Minnesota.” Her coaching philosophy was straightforward: compete and win.
Boogie
From: Los Angeles, California
Occupation: Restaurateur
Previous seasons: Big Brother 2 and Big Brother 7: All-Stars
Previous finishes: Eighth place in BB2; winner of BB7
BB7 jury vote: 6-1
Competition record: 4 HOH, 1 POV
Team Boogie: Frank, Ian and Jenn
Boogie first played during BB2, where he and Will created Chilltown. Boogie left early that season while Will went on to win. When they returned together for BB7: All-Stars, Chilltown successfully played the competing alliances against each other. Boogie eventually reached the final two and defeated Erika with a 6-1 jury vote.
For BB14, Boogie was presented as the social strategist of the coaching group. His view was that new players frequently became too focused on winning competitions and underestimated the importance of relationships and positioning. He returned six years after his All-Stars victory.
Hate the fact that there are returning house guests again this year BUTT, if if they are playing for their own prize, maby it will work out for the best 🙂 Can’t wait for the show to start!

Numbers don’t mean anything and her win on BB was about as exciting as watching BB1(which, I spared my sanity by not sitting through). I’m actually seconding her not being on this season. It will probably be an equally annoying character, but I bet BB will only have her cameo this season just to avoid the predictable.

I agree, Boogie is just a blowhard. Everyone seems to love chill town, but I hated them. I wish they would just get back to all newbies. The bringing back older players should only be for all-stars.
Only Janelle and Dan deserve the title of having done the best. Rachel lost her first season and won the second because she was helped by production. As for Boogie, the only thing he had going for him was Dr. Will. Without Will, he would have never made allstars, they were a pair, and they got picked because of Will. James BB6, Eric BB8, ED, Dani, Danielle BB3 and Crazy James BB9 are all much more deserving than Boogie and Rachel. Please BB. No Rachel or I am hitting the cancel button on my feeds.

Chloe, you are seriously commenting each time about how you don’t like Rachel. Rachel was the best on her season and production that year all thought Dani would take it and tried putting challenges where Dani would excel but it just did not happen for Dani. Also, if you go on other Big Brother sites and the CBS site, A LOT of people like Rachel from season 13, so you all can say whatever you like. A lot of people will still watch even if you Rachel haters don’t. It doesn’t seem like she will come back, but if she does Rachel haters cancel your live feeds!!!

Rachel is popular with the edited TV show viewers, but the hardcore fans that watch the feeds tend to not like her. They are two different audiences. Whatever. I know CBS reads the blogs, so I state my opinion freely in hopes that the network remembers the feed watchers more than they have the last few seasons. I also think it’s not fair to put vets on the same playing field as newbies, not just because they have experience, but because the alumni know each other. It gives them an advantage.

I swear the ONLY reason people liked Rachel AND Brendan season 13 was because they were with Jeff and Jordan.

bb executive producer said that won’t be any houseguest from last season.
This is a difficult cast! I can’t really look at anyone and say “I’m gonna like them”, but sometimes at the beginning when I think I’m going to like someone I end up hating them when they enter the house or open their mouth. Like Adam from last year or lydia. Not too happy about returning hourseguests, but I’ll manage. All these returning houseguests kinda defeats the purpose of the All Star seasons in my opinion. Hopefully Dan will return though!!! He’s the only one I want to see back out of that rumored list. Please god no Rachel, it is getting to be a little much.

Rachel…again?? This is what… her third year in a row on this show? And she just completed The Amazing Race? I’m so tired of the returning alumni twist, if that’s your only trick then look OVER Rachel, there are other past members. Even if it is a rumor, I don’t like that she’s the first name thrown out there
I thought we always started out with 14! What is with this 12? And the most HG’s ever? With the 4 returning that would make it 16, I think the highest there has been is 17?

I completely agree. Season 2 is still the best ever because the people were real. There were no stereotypes, all ages, many of them mature adults, all kinds of backgrounds, the interactions were so cool, they played the game hard. The gay guy wasn’t your stereotypical queen (Will, Dustin, Kevin, Stephen, Ragan), the black woman wasn’t your stereotypical feisty black woman we have seen every season (Jameka, Libra, Cheema, Kalia), etc. They were mostly intelligent people and BB made them work together for things like a toaster, a microwave, a gym, the hot tub. There was a bit of eye candy for the girls and the guys, but nothing like now. It seems you have to already have a following to even be considered by casting. Casting at CBS sounds like a pretty slack job. It seems to get suckier every season since then, with season 6, 8 and especially 10 being the exception.

I liked Janelle too however I liked the single , twenty something Janelle not he married w/ a baby Janelle. I think if CBS is so determined to bring back past house guests they should be from BB8 -BB12.

That’s encouraging! Most of the best players I doubt would come back. Dr. Will said he will never do reality tv again since he’s married and busy with his profession. Janelle has a baby, don’t think she would play. Dan, maybe, but I don’t think so. ED would do it I think, and I would like that, was so disappointed last season because he might have saved a horrible season, and technically he wasn’t on last season, Danielle season 3 might do it if given the chance. Gawd I hope they don’t bring back Drew or Maggie or Jun!!! “Most successful should mean either final 2 or someone who rocked competitions, so the list in my opinion is limited. I think Eric BB8 deserves a chance, he got screwed by the twist, but he had game, and James BB 6 and 7 is a schemer, won competitions when he needed to, should have gone farther both times he played. If we have to have vets, it’s a some consolation that they play a parallel game for their own prize. Kind of makes all stars pointless tho.
Hopefully Janelle is coming back two seasons in #3 hopefully she could pull it off.
As for Rachel….she is going in by herself so there would be no “No one comes between me and my man!” Im a fan of hers and she is actually quite interesting

Yeah, I did notice that, and it’s encouraging that Rachel is doing rumour control. Hopefully it means she isn’t coming back. I don’t know if Ragan deserves the title of best players. He was catty, he made me laugh, but I don’t know if I can stand watching him cry all summer long. If anyone from season 12 deserves another kick at the can, it would be Enzo. He’s fun, he knows how to plant grenades, and nobody wears a penguin suit like the meow meow.
Rachel coming back would be so terrible. I do hope they are not going in that direction. James would be cool. Janelle would be okay. Regan would even be good to see. Boogey is old now, so please, NO!! Let’s give the grenade thrower ONE MORE shot. I would love to see Mr. Grenade have ONE MORE shot. If ya don’t know who Mr. Grenade is, then well, you’ve not been a loyal fan.
PLEASE CBS, give us something worthwhile to watch.

Most of the players on the CBS site don’t deserve to be called best players. Come on CBS! Nasty Gnatalie? Please don’t bring her back! Howie??? I like him, he’s fun to watch, but he isn’t even close to being a best player. Kaysar I liked in his first season, not so much in all stars, but he went out pre jury both times and made a really dumb move in the pressure cooker challenge. Brittney? I love the girl, she was my fave on her season, but she isn’t a great strategist, certainly not on par with Janelle. Jessie??? Renny??? Great players????? No way. The only ones shown on the website that deserve to be called the best are Will, Janelle, Dan, Dick, Danielle and maybe Enzo. There are other greats that didn’t make CBS’s list, like Danielle BB3, James BB 6/7, Eric BB8, Crazy James BB9. I really don’t think Dr. Will and Janelle will be coming back, Dan, maybe, Dani is doing rumour control, so probably not, Dick – if we have to see old players give us ED!! I’m sure Enzo would come back if given the chance. That leaves a bunch of undeserving players as possible returnees. I hope the newbs make up for CBS’s obsession with has beens and give us a great season.

According to ED tweets, the mentors can only win $100K, even if one of their people wins, and he says he doesn’t want to blow the chance to be on again, says that he wants to be the first person to win twice. So I guess that means no Dick this season. The pool of “talent” keeps getting smaller.

Yeah Janelle had her baby about 7 months ago, so it will be interesting to see if she is back in the BB house.
