Big Brother 4

Big Brother 4 aired on the CBS network from July 8 to September 24, 2003.

Season 4 was advertised as the “Ex-Factor” where 13 new house guests were hand picked by casting producers to compete for the half a million dollar prize. There was originally a house guest named Brandon that was supposed to enter the house, however he broke the rules will in sequester by contacting his girlfriend. As a result he was disqualified and sent home. The casting producers then cast Jee as his replacement. This season’s twist had 8 house guests introduced where 5 of the house guests ex’s also joined them in the house. This was a receipt for drama that immediately escalated into a violent outburst by Scott when he found out his ex-girlfriend Amanda also moved into the house. Following the outburst, Scott apologized to the other house guests for his actions and admitted that the reason for his outburst was because he had contracted a sexually transmitted disease from his ex. Subsequently, Scott was expelled from the big brother 4 house.
Two of this seasons house guests Erika Landin and Alison Irwin were chosen by producers and the viewing public to return to compete in Big Brother 7 All-Stars.

The Big Brother 4 house guests cast with their ex’s were as follows:

Week 1 – On day one 8 house guests enter the big brother 4 house and shortly after 5 other house guests enter the house. The first 8 house guests that entered the house made a pact to stick together against the other 5 house guests soon to enter. In the first HOH competition called “Who’s Ya Chum?” Nathan won and at the nomination ceremony he nominated Amanda and Jee for eviction. For the food competition called “X marks the spot” Scott, Allison, David, Dana, Jack, Nathan and Jun won. On day 8, Scott had his melt down in the kitchen where he threw chairs scaring the other house guests. After his explosive outburst he apologized to the other house guests saying that his ex’ Amanda who had also been cast as the twist had given him a STD and it had devastated him. As a result of his outburst and the fact that the other house guests feared for their safety, Scott Weintraub was expelled from the big brother 4 house. In the second food competition called “Spud!” all of the house guests won food. In the power of veto competition called “Feeling Knotty” Dana won and during the veto ceremony she opted not to use it. This season marked a change to the power of veto rules where a nominee was now able to use it on themselves. By a unanimous vote Amanda was evicted from the big brother 4 house.

Week 2 – In the HOH competition called “Majority Rules” Jee won and during the nomination ceremony he nominated Erika and Michelle for eviction. In the food competition called “Clash of the Csseroles” Allison, Erika, Jun, Justin, and Jack won. During the power of veto competition called “Duck Ball” David won and in the veto ceremony he chose not to use it. By a vote of 6-2, Michelle was evicted from the big brother 4 house.

Week 3 – In the HOH competition called “Everything in 3’s” Dana won and in the nomination ceremony she nominated Jack and Allison for eviction. . In the food competition called “Paratroopers” all of the house guests won. The house guests were also treated to a luxury competition called “Spin-O-Matic”. During the power of veto competition called “Niagara Balls” Nathan won and in the veto ceremony he chose to use it to save Allison from eviction. As a result, Dana nominated David as the replacement nominee. By a vote of 5-2, David was evicted from the big brother 4 house.

Week 4 – In the HOH competition called “Around the Water Cooler” Allison won and in the nomination ceremony she nominated Dana and Jun for eviction. In the food competition called “Laying Pipe” Jun, Justin, Nathan and Jack won. During the power of veto competition called “Snake in the Grass” Robert won and in the veto ceremony he chose not to use it. By a vote of 6-0, Dana was evicted from the big brother 4 house.

Week 5 – In the HOH competition called “Who Said It?” Justin won and in the nomination ceremony he nominated Nathan and Jack for eviction. In the food competition called “50 Ways to cook a House Guest” all the house guests won. The house guests were treated to another luxury competition called “Foam Party”. During the power of veto competition called “Quoridor” Robert won and in the veto ceremony he chose not to use it. By a vote of 5-0, Nathan was evicted from the big brother 4 house.

Week 6 – In the HOH competition called “Steel Cage Match” Erika won and in the nomination ceremony she nominated Robert and Justin for eviction. In the food competition called “Clambake From Hell” all the house guests won. During the power of veto competition called “Video Veto” Jun won and in the veto ceremony she chose not to use it. By a vote of 3-1, Justin was evicted from the big brother 4 house.

Week 7 – In the HOH competition called “Black HoHle” Jee won and in the nomination ceremony he nominated Jack and Erika for eviction. In the food competition called “Revenge of the Gnomes Jee won. The house guests were treated to a luxury competition called “Fashion Fire Pit” and everyone won. During the power of veto competition called “An offer you must refuse” Jee won and in the veto ceremony he chose not to use it. By a vote of 2-1, Jack was evicted from the big brother 4 house.

Week 8 – In the HOH competition called “Disappearing Act” Jun won and in the nomination ceremony she nominated Allison and Jee for eviction. During the power of veto competition called “Where in the World is Jun Song” Allison won and in the veto ceremony she chose to use it on herself. As a result, Jun then nominated Robert as the replacement nominee. By a vote of 2-0, Jee was evicted from the big brother 4 house.

Week 9 – In the HOH competition called “Dearly Departed” Robert won and in the nomination ceremony he nominated Allison and Jus for eviction. In the food competition called “Mexotic Dinner” all the house guests won. The house guests were also treated to a luxury competition called “Escape from the big brother house” which was won by Jun and Allison. During the Big Brother Diamond Power of Veto competition called “The Diamond Veto” Allison won and in the veto ceremony she chose to use it on herself again. As the winner of the diamond power of veto Allison was able to remove herself from the block and got the sole vote to decide who to evict. As a result, Robert then nominated Erika as the replacement nominee. Allison then cast the sole vote to evict Erika from the big brother 4 house.

3 Part HOH Competition:

  • HOH Part 1 Allison, Robert & Jun competed: Allison won.
  • HOH Part 2 Jun & Robert competed: Jun won.
  • HOH Part 3 Jun & Allison competed: Allison won.

Big Brother Finale:

  • Jun then won Big Brother 4 by a vote of 6-1, winning the grand prize of $500,000.
  • Allison won the runner up prize of $50,000.

Memorable Moments:

  • Big Brother 4 marked the first season where house guests had sex in the big brother house. David and Amanda had sex in the HOH room under the covers. In the uncensored DVD release of the season this encounter was shown.
  • At this time, Michele was also the youngest house guest in big brother history at age 19.
