Dan won Big Brother 10 by a jury vote of 7–0 — the first shutout in the show’s history — and then came back for Big Brother 14 and lost the final by 6–1. Nobody else has a record shaped like that. He is the player the whole argument about how you win Big Brother keeps circling back to.
- Won: Big Brother 10, 2008. Unanimous, 7–0.
- Returned: Big Brother 14 in 2012, first as a coach, then as a player.
- Lost: the Big Brother 14 final to Ian, 6–1. Danielle was his only vote.
- Coached: and on premiere night sent Jodi out before the game had properly started.
- Turned on: Boogie, voting his fellow coach out 5–2.
- Final four: Danielle won the veto and used it on him, which left Dan holding the only vote. He evicted Shane.
Big Brother 10: the first shutout
Seven jurors, seven votes for Dan. No finalist had ever swept a Big Brother jury before. Since then, only three more winners have done it.
He was nominated in week two and survived. He took Head of Household on the week seven double eviction, came off the block on a veto the week after, then won Head of Household again at the final four — where Memphis held the veto and cast the sole vote that sent Keesha out. When he beat Jerry in the final Head of Household he took Memphis to the end and the jury did not split a single vote. The full record of that season is under Big Brother 10.
Big Brother 14: the one that got away
Big Brother 14 brought four former players back as coaches. Dan’s first act was to pick Jodi out of the house on premiere night, before a single vote had been cast. When the twist collapsed and the coaches joined the game, he was the only one of the four who made the end.
What he did on the way there is why people still argue about the season. He voted out Boogie, his fellow coach. He survived week seven when Jenn used the veto on him and Britney went up in his place. He took Head of Household on the 6 September double and watched Ian save himself with the veto, which put Frank on the block instead. At the final four Danielle won the veto and used it on him, handing him the only vote in the house; he evicted Shane.
Then Ian won the final Head of Household, sat beside him, and beat him six votes to one. Dan’s case to the jury was that the hatred had been deliberate all along.
