Who won Big Brother Canada 5?

Kevin won Big Brother Canada 5 on 18 May 2017 by a unanimous 9-0 vote over Karen. Every juror — Neda, Sindy, Bruno, Jackie, William, Dre, Dillon, Ika and Demetres — voted for him.

He got there alone. Kevin started the season in the Six, an alliance of returnees with Neda, Bruno, Sindy, Ika and Demetres, and it fell apart once the jury began. In week 7 Demetres nominated him, and he survived only because William had found a secret Power of Veto and used it on him.

After that Kevin won what he needed to. He took the last three vetoes of the season and two Heads of Household in the final weeks, then won parts two and three of the final Head of Household, evicted Demetres, and took Karen to the final two.

Two years earlier he had been evicted from Big Brother Canada 3 in the triple eviction without a single vote to save him. Our finale recap has the three-part Head of Household as it played out.

Who was in the Big Brother Canada 5 cast?

Sixteen houseguests: eight from earlier seasons and eight new. In finishing order:

• 1st — Kevin. Returning from Big Brother Canada 3. The last three vetoes and the final Head of Household.
• 2nd — Karen. New. The season’s first Head of Household.
• 3rd — Demetres. New. Won five Heads of Household and part one of the final one.
• 4th — Ika. Returning from Big Brother Canada 2. Evicted on Kevin’s sole vote at the final four.
• 5th — Dillon. New. Saved by all three votes in the triple eviction, then evicted 2-0.
• 6th/7th — Dre. New. Evicted in the triple eviction.
• 6th/7th — William. New. Found the secret veto and used it on Kevin. Evicted in the triple eviction.
• 8th — Jackie. New. Evicted 4-1.
• 9th — Bruno. Returning from Big Brother Canada 3. Evicted 5-1 after William’s secret veto changed the nominations.
• 10th — Sindy. Returning from Big Brother Canada 3. Head of Household when Neda was evicted; out 6-1 the next week.
• 11th — Neda. Returning from Big Brother Canada 2. Immune until the jury by Canada’s vote, and evicted 7-1 in the double eviction once it ran out.
• 12th — Emily. New. Evicted 8-1.
• 13th — Gary. Returning from Big Brother Canada 1. Evicted 1-0 in Backwards Week, on the only vote cast.
• 14th — Cassandra. Returning from Big Brother Canada 4. Evicted 11-0.
• 15th — Dallas. Returning from Big Brother Canada 4. Evicted 12-0.
• 16th — Mark. New. First evicted, 7-6.

What were the twists in Big Brother Canada 5?

Big Brother Canada 5 was built around the returnees, and the twists mostly worked on them.

Eight returning, eight new. Bruno, Cassandra, Dallas, Gary, Ika, Kevin, Neda and Sindy came back from the first four seasons. Dillon, Demetres, Dre, Emily, Jackie, Karen, Mark and William were new.

Canada’s immunity vote. In week 1 Canada voted to send one houseguest forward in time. Neda won it, which made her immune from nomination until the jury, while she kept playing and voting.

Backwards Week. In week 4 the house nominated first, by vote: Dre and Gary. The veto came next, and Neda did not use it. Only then was there a Head of Household competition — and the winner, Demetres, cast the only eviction vote. Gary was out 1-0.

The double eviction. In week 5 Emily went 8-1. Then Sindy, as the new Head of Household, got Neda onto the block as a replacement nominee — a backdoor — with her immunity gone. Neda was out 7-1.

William’s secret veto. William found a hidden Power of Veto. In week 7 the regular veto went unused, and William then used his on Kevin, so Karen went up and Bruno was evicted 5-1.

The triple eviction. In week 8 Jackie was evicted 4-1. Demetres won Head of Household and nominated Dre, Kevin and William. Kevin won the veto and saved himself, Dillon went up, and the house voted to save one of the three: Dillon, with all three votes. Dre and William left together.

Who won each HOH, veto and eviction in Big Brother Canada 5?

Ten weeks, a double eviction and a triple. Backwards Week turned the order of the game around once.

What is Big Brother Canada 5 remembered for?

The 9-0. Every jury before it had split. Kevin’s was the first unanimous win Big Brother Canada produced.

The Six coming apart. An alliance of returnees that ran the first half of the game, broken by Neda’s eviction once her immunity ran out, and then picked off one by one.

Ika and Demetres. The pair that ran the back half of the game, and Kevin’s opponents all the way to the end. Demetres won five Heads of Household; he could not win the one that mattered.

What came after. In June 2017 the show was put on hiatus. A fan campaign followed, and in July it was renewed for a sixth season.
