After weeks of cryptic teases from Julie Chen Moonves and plenty of fan speculation, CBS has finally opened the doors to the Big Brother 28 house—and it looks like production has completely thrown out the rulebook.
This summer’s theme is officially “Big Brother: Time Trip,” transforming the house into a bizarre journey through history, the future, and everything in between. If first impressions are any indication, this could be one of the most ambitious house designs we’ve seen in years.

Every Room Tells a Different Story
Rather than sticking with one decorating style, the designers have created a house that jumps across different eras.
Houseguests will enter through a hallway filled with clocks from every imaginable time period before stepping into living spaces that blend ancient history, retro pop culture, and futuristic technology. There are prehistoric touches, vintage gadgets, throwback décor, and even sleek sleep pods that look like something straight out of science fiction.
One of the biggest centerpieces is a massive clock tower installation, reinforcing the idea that time itself will play a major role throughout the season—not just in the décor, but likely in the game itself.

Time-Bending Entryway: Houseguests are greeted by a striking faux-neon sign and a dizzying array of clocks, immediately setting the tone: Time is fractured, unpredictable and constantly in motion.
Living Room of Eras: 17-foot gothic windows glow against oxblood stone walls, blending classic and industrial design alongside relics from across history, from a triceratops skull to royal crown jewels — a reminder that anything from any era could shape the game.
Nostalgic Trophies: A 1940s jukebox and an ’80s transparent phone highlights a surreal mix of decades, celebrating nostalgia as past, present, and future collide inside the BB house.
Relic Lab Hallway: The iconic Time Laser returns alongside quirky failed inventions including a pogo stick, keytar, and more all displayed as relics of past experiments.
Clockwork Bathroom: Gears and intricate mechanical details surround Houseguests, while sub-atomic-inspired lighting fixtures create a visually stunning, otherworldly atmosphere.
The Artifact Bedroom: Housing five Houseguests, this artifact-filled room features two mysterious doorways, one to the past, one to the future.
Futuristic Sleep Pods Room: A sleek retreat with pod beds, organic ladders and nebula visuals offers a calm, futuristic escape from the chaos of the game.
Upstairs Lounge: Vintage tech lines the shelves. Massive arched windows overlooking the living room make it a prime vantage point for eavesdropping, while the custom-built sofa is perfectly suited for both strategizing and showmancing.
Time-Lapse Gym: Walls wrapped in time-lapse photography create the illusion of motion and progression, energizing Houseguests as they work out and reset.
Clock Tower Feature: Tying the entire house together, a dramatic clock tower crowns the space, a symbolic reminder that in this game, time is always ticking… but never predictable.

The Theme Goes Beyond the Decorations
Julie Chen Moonves has already hinted that “Time Trip” isn’t simply an excuse for an impressive house makeover.
According to CBS, the season will feature competitions and twists inspired by different eras, including memorable moments from past seasons of Big Brother. That could mean classic competitions making a return with new twists, unexpected callbacks, or even game mechanics that allow history inside the house to be rewritten.
Exactly how that will work remains one of the biggest mysteries heading into premiere night.
Does This Add Fuel to the Returning Player Rumors?
Fans have spent the last several weeks trying to decode every clue CBS has released.
The emphasis on revisiting the past naturally raises another question: will former Houseguests become part of the game?
CBS still hasn’t confirmed whether returning players are involved, but a season built around revisiting different eras certainly leaves the door open for surprises. Whether that means alumni appearances, themed competitions based on iconic seasons, or something even bigger remains anyone’s guess.
With the cast still under wraps, the speculation isn’t slowing down anytime soon.
A Fresh Look That Feels Familiar
One thing the new house accomplishes immediately is making longtime fans feel nostalgic without simply recreating old seasons.
Instead of copying the past, the production team appears to have mixed decades, historical references, and futuristic ideas into one giant puzzle. It’s colorful, chaotic, and unlike any previous Big Brother house.
If the gameplay ends up being as unpredictable as the design, Season 28 could quickly become one of the franchise’s most memorable summers.
The Countdown Is Almost Over
The wait won’t be much longer.
Big Brother 28 premieres Thursday, July 9, with an extended 90-minute premiere, followed by the return of Big Brother: Unlocked and the launch of the live feeds shortly afterward.
Now that we’ve finally seen the house, only one major mystery remains: Who will be walking through that front door?
