Big Brother 28 spoilers: Barrett won the Week 9 Head of Household on the BB28 live feeds, and at 2:05 AM, alone in his room with nobody left to manage, he said what he actually wants to do with it — nominate all three Icons and end the Crossovers on his own terms. Nominations are not set yet. Dee and Melody are this week’s have-nots.

Where the week stands: Barrett is Head of Household. Eight houseguests are left — Drew, Melody, Barrett, Yash, Taylor, Devens, Dee and Angela. Nominations have not been made. Dee and Melody are the have-nots; Drew is exempt on the Never Not Pass.

What he said alone in the HOH room: “As for my nominations — you know, full send would be having an official breakup with the Crossovers. Nominating all three Icons.” That is Devens, Dee and Angela, and it would end the five-person alliance he is in.

He has already promised Devens he is safe, and does not care: “I did kind of tell him he was good. I don’t have to be truthful about that. I told him he was good for a whole week, and I lied about that. Why stop now?”

The three-Icon plan is insurance, not spite: his goal is an Icon out, or Yash if not. Nominating only two Icons leaves the third free to win the veto and pull one down — and when he ran that scenario aloud, the replacement he would need was Taylor, and the votes did not get there. “Drew ain’t gonna keep Taylor, so that don’t work.”

He priced it before he chose it: “not only am I breaking the final five alliance that I’m in, I’m also potentially destroying the final three that I have with Devens and Drew.” On Dee: “I literally cannot figure out what my relationship with Dee is at this point. But damn, I lost so much trust in her a couple weeks ago.” And then, on all three: “They are my friends, though… But is it stupid? I mean, it’s a little stupid. But it’s kind of what I want to do.”

Two names came off the board before anything else: “I’m not putting Drew or Melody up. So that only gives me five options.” Which leaves Dee, Devens, Angela, Yash and Taylor.

The competition: a new one, 1600s Ireland-themed — seven balls in rainbow order down a humped ramp into matching slots, ROY G BIV, reset penalties for doubling up. Barrett won it borrowing his own Blockbuster strategy, bouncing the balls off the side to slow them. Dee got six of seven and kept resetting. Melody had four. “Yash did quite terrible, from what it seemed.”

What he has not done: said any of it to another person. The first houseguest he invited into the plan was Yash — not a Crossover — at 12:53 AM: “I definitely want to get your thoughts on s— for tomorrow.” By his own account the hard part is still ahead: “saying that to them tomorrow is another thing, though.”

Have-Nots of the Week — Week 9

Dee and Melody

They are the two setting up beds in the have-not room. Production asked for volunteers rather than running a pick — Yash said no, and Dee and Melody put their hands up.

Never in the pool: Barrett, who won Head of Household, and Drew, who holds the Never Not Pass. It is the last live power out of the Time Capsule and keeping him off slop is the only thing it has ever done — this is the week it finally paid.

Why the house is loud about it: Week 8 had no have-nots at all. Slop came back at final eight, so two of the six eligible were always going to eat it. The complaining started before the beds were made, and the loudest voices are Melody, who volunteered, and Drew, who cannot be picked.

More on slop, the have-not room and how the rules have shifted over the years: Slop and Have-Nots

12:53 AM — Yash and Barrett (Storage Room)

Barrett has the Head of Household room and has not been up to see it yet. Yash finds him in the storage room to say congratulations properly.

Yash: “And then there were two. I’m excited for you, bro. Just to have, like, your week up there chilling. It’s gonna hit, bro. Especially this late in the game. Let’s f—ing go, dude.”

Barrett has not decided anything, and says so in a way that is not exactly reassuring.

Barrett: “I don’t know for sure what I’m going to do yet, but I don’t think it’ll be boring.”
Yash: “At this point, bro, whatever you do will be something.”

“I don’t know for sure what I’m going to do yet, but I don’t think it’ll be boring.”

— Barrett, hours into his HOH

Then he does the arithmetic on what the job is now, and it lands on him.

Barrett: “Yeah, I’m excited. I mean, of course a little nervous. It’s kind of like — damn, I can nominate over half the house in a week. Like, what the f—.”
Yash: “I know, that’s the thing too. There’s never any right answer. But yeah, I’m hyped for you, bro. That’s lit.”

“Damn, I can nominate over half the house in a week. Like, what the f—.”

— Barrett

And then the first thing he does with the power is ask a man outside his alliance to help him use it.

Barrett: “I definitely want to get your thoughts on s— for tomorrow.”
Yash: “No, 1,000%.”
Barrett: “I may f—ing pass out tonight, but in the morning for sure.”
Yash: “And I’ll be hanging out. I’ll come. That’s a room I’m going to come hang out in.”
Barrett: “Please, yeah. Always.”

“I definitely want to get your thoughts on s— for tomorrow.” — “No, 1,000%.”

— Barrett and Yash

Yash has a word for what they are going to do in the morning.

Yash: “We’ll definitely chit-chat for sure. We’ll cook up. We’ll cook up.”

Yash keeps returning to the competition Barrett won, because he has decided it is going to outlive both of them.

Yash: “Also cool, too, because from here on out, that’ll be, like — oh, the comp Barrett won in 28. Because that’s never been done before. That was new, wasn’t it? So next year, when they’re all in here and they’re like, what comp are we going to play — oh, it could be the one that Barrett won last year. Isn’t that crazy?”
Barrett: “I won’t believe it until I see it.”
Yash: “But that’ll be how people describe it.”

He goes further, and gives it a name.

Yash: “That’s going to be the Bear comp now, bro. People next year are going to be like, I wonder if that comp is going to be one of them. Which is f—ing sick.”
Barrett: “I don’t know if that’ll be a staple, but…”

“That’s going to be the Bear comp now, bro.”

— Yash

They go back through it. Barrett kept overhitting, and stopped.

Barrett: “I didn’t know if I had to wait for the purple to set.”
Yash: “That feeling of seeing it set must have been crazy, bro. Because I couldn’t even get more than two. The fact that you got the last one must have been like — holy s—.”
Barrett: “It ended up being the move, I guess. Because I kept just doing them too hard. So I was like, I might as well just go that way then. At the very least, it’ll just roll and not sit in the one before.”

Yash enjoyed losing it more than he expected to.

Yash: “It was a fun one to play. Even though I was ass at it, it was fun. I was telling Devens, it felt like playing a sport. Like you’re just running around, but you don’t even think about the fact you’re working out.”

Barrett is still catching up to having won anything at all.

Barrett: “I really haven’t processed that that is still a thing tonight.”
Yash: “That’s how I was after I won, too. I kind of just chilled. I went to my pod and fell asleep, just laid there, and then it was time. I was like, all right, let’s go. That s— feels good, right? Because you come in here never knowing if you’ll win one. So when you win it, it’s like…”
Barrett: “I couldn’t believe it. Hitting that button — I know you hit that button last week, too. I know that just feels the best feeling.”

“You come in here never knowing if you’ll win one. So when you win it, it’s like…”

— Yash

The rest is the room itself, which neither of them has seen yet. Music first.

Yash: “If it’s Olivia Rodrigo… you into that s—? I like white girl pop.”
Barrett: “Well, she got a lot of white girl pop.”
Yash: “I like white girl pop, bro.”
Barrett: “This new album, I f—ing loved it.”

Yash blames his mother, affectionately.

Yash: “Dude, I listen to all types of music. That’s one of them. Because growing up, when we would be in the backseat of the car, the genre my mom would always listen to is pop. So pop music, I have, like, a soft spot for it. I’m, like, conditioned to like pop music.”

“The genre my mom would always listen to is pop… I’m, like, conditioned to like pop music.”

— Yash

Then the photos, which is the part Yash actually wants.

Yash: “I’m excited to see your family, bro. I feel like we’re always talking about your family. I want to see all of them. I hope they have a group picture of, like, everyone.”
Barrett: “Yeah, I’m trying to think the last time we even got a group photo. I think it might be a young photo of the five of us, or me and my siblings when we were young.”

They audit the season’s baby pictures from memory.

Yash: “Are you going to look mad different?”
Barrett: “Yeah, I hope there is a picture of me as a kid.”

Which turns into a full accounting of who has had a baby photo up this season and who has not.

Barrett: “Dee didn’t have one. Devens didn’t have one. Haley didn’t have one, I don’t think.”
Yash: “Yeah, Kamu was the first, then me, then Drew. Dude, that’d be cool to see you as a kid, bro.”
Barrett: “I got a lot of them, I feel like.”

Where it stands: Barrett won the Head of Household and the first person he pulled into the plan is not a Crossover. “I definitely want to get your thoughts on s— for tomorrow” is an open door to Yash — the same Yash he was pricing up on Wednesday as half of a double-eviction package with Devens. Either the middleman move is off, or Barrett has decided the quickest way to run it is to let the target help him build the board.

1:21 am Barrett get is HOH room. The houseguests join him in going through the basket seeing his family photos.. Lots of emotions.

1:32 am Angela starts doing the hug rounds

1:45 am Melody is crying talking about how shitty of a game she’s playing.

1:53 am Taylor maintains LALA’s healthy food tradition

Barrett isn’t doing any convo’s tonight. He’s going to bed early.

2:05 AM — Barrett (HOH Room)

Barrett is finally alone in the Head of Household room, and he opens by noticing it.

Barrett: “I guess this is the first time I’ve just been in a room by myself like this. So I probably should talk.”

He starts with the competition, and gets the review out of the way in one line.

Barrett: “The HOH tonight was really cool. I really liked it because I won.”

“The HOH tonight was really cool. I really liked it because I won.”

— Barrett

Then the full description, for anyone who missed it behind the feed cut.

Barrett: “It was like we went to, like, the 1600s. And it was, like, a new comp. Like, I’d never seen it before.”
Barrett: “It was like we all had our stations. And there was one long ramp, and it had different, like, humps. And we had all of these different colored balls.”
Barrett: “Since it was, like, Ireland-themed, each ball was a color of the rainbow. ROY G BIV, as you know.”

Seven balls, seven slots, and the whole thing turns on not overcooking a roll.

Barrett: “We had to, like, roll each ball and get them to land in the different colored slots that was each color. Does that make any sense?”
Barrett: “So there were seven balls, and we had to roll them just enough to get them to land in the same colored spot. ROY G BIV. And then once we got them all there, we would hit our button.”

The penalties are where it got expensive.

Barrett: “If we accidentally had a ball lay into the same spot as another ball, we had to reset both of those balls.”
Barrett: “And then if, like — what was the other rule? If we grabbed the ball before it stopped rolling, or for sure stopped rolling and committed to one side, we had to then reset the entire board. Which I don’t think happened.”

He won it on a borrowed strategy, and he knows exactly where he borrowed it from.

Barrett: “It was kind of like the same balls as the Blockbuster that I played in, where we rolled the ball and you have to get them to sit in the middle of the turf. So I kind of used the same strategy — which was just, like, bouncing them off the side of the ramp first to get them to slow down a little bit. Because when you would roll them, they would literally go forever and ever. And it was really hard to get them to stop in the right spot.”

“Bouncing them off the side of the ramp first to get them to slow down a little bit.”

— Barrett, on how he won it

Then he scores the field from memory, which is the closest thing the feeds have to a leaderboard.

Barrett: “I don’t know who would have done second best. Dee only had one ball left at one point to get, but then I think she just kept rolling hers into the same spot as another one and kept having to reset, and then reset another.”
Barrett: “Yash did quite terrible, from what it seemed.”
Barrett: “Melody did really good. I think she had, like, four of the seven balls at one point. But yeah, I think Devens had five balls maybe at one point. Dee had six balls out of seven.”

Dee got to six of seven and lost it to the reset rule. Barrett’s summary of the whole night: “it was a lot of running down to the end and back.”

And then, alone, with nobody to manage, he says what he actually wants to do with it.

Barrett: “As for my nominations — you know, full send would be having an official breakup with the Crossovers. Nominating all three Icons.”

“Full send would be having an official breakup with the Crossovers. Nominating all three Icons.”

— Barrett, alone in the HOH room

He has already told Devens he is safe. He is not troubled by that.

Barrett: “Devens, from what Drew says, Devens seems to feel okay right now. I did kind of tell him he was good. I don’t have to be truthful about that. I told him he was good for a whole week, and I lied about that. Why stop now?”

“I told him he was good for a whole week, and I lied about that. Why stop now?”

— Barrett, on Devens

The reasoning behind putting up all three is not spite. It is insurance.

Barrett: “Because, like, what’s my goal? I want to get either an Icon out, and if I don’t get an Icon out, I’d like Yash to be the one out.”
Barrett: “But the only way I can guarantee that one of those things happens is if I nominate all three Icons. Because if I nominate two Icons and Yash, and the Icon that I don’t nominate gets picked for the veto, wins it and then takes another Icon off — then there could be a chance that if I just put up Taylor, and it’s an Icon, Yash and Taylor, that Taylor could still end up going. Because we need three votes.”

He runs that scenario out loud to check it. Nominate Angela, Dee and Yash. Devens gets picked for the veto, wins it, pulls Dee off. Taylor goes up as the replacement. Yash wins the Blockbuster and steps off the block, leaving Angela and Taylor, and three votes to decide it. He starts counting names, gets partway down the list, reaches Drew and kills the whole thing.

Barrett: “Where does Drew go? Drew ain’t gonna keep Taylor, so that don’t work.”

Which leaves him back at the version that costs him everything he has built.

Barrett: “By nominating all three Icons, not only am I breaking the final five alliance that I’m in, I’m also potentially destroying the final three that I have with Devens and Drew.”

And there is one relationship in the house he cannot get a reading on at all.

Barrett: “I literally cannot figure out what my relationship with Dee is at this point. But damn, I lost so much trust in her a couple weeks ago.”

Then the part that is not strategy at all. He talks himself through wanting an Icon gone, catches himself, and argues both sides in about twenty seconds.

Barrett: “…and getting a damn Icon out of this house. I know that’s what — I know I wouldn’t mind them. They are my friends, though.”
Barrett: “But is it stupid?”
Barrett: “I mean, it’s a little stupid. But it’s kind of what I want to do.”

“They are my friends, though… But is it stupid? I mean, it’s a little stupid. But it’s kind of what I want to do.”

— Barrett

He names the two people who are safe before he names anything else, which narrows the board on its own.

Barrett: “I’m not putting Drew or Melody up. So that only gives me five options.”
Barrett: “And at this point in the game, I just gotta full send it.”

Then, after a long pause, the only thing standing between the plan and the house.

Barrett: “Saying that to them tomorrow is another thing, though.”

“At this point in the game, I just gotta full send it… Saying that to them tomorrow is another thing, though.”

— Barrett

Where it stands: Barrett has said it out loud, alone, with nobody to soften it for — he wants to nominate Angela, Dee and Devens and end the Crossovers on his own terms. He knows the price: the five he is in, and the final three he has with Devens and Drew. The two names he took off the board first were Drew and Melody, which tells you which side of himself won the argument. What he has not done is say any of it to a single other person, and by his own account that is the hard part.

2:36 am everyone sleeping.

Rubber Ducky For The Win

Well things just got very interesting. Well done Barrett!

orwell the out of work BBAD owl

Come on Barrett put up the “ICONS” it has to be done. Barrett has to make his own moves if he’s going get any respect from the jury. That move may earn him $750.000!

Opinion Overload

You mean when he’s in the jury house and everyone is giving him shade? He played the middle and will still be in the middle after the next eviction.

Paul Sucks

Not rocket science this week Barrett.

Timothée Elordi

Finally, we won’t have to listen to the sound of a fixed game this week.

Philip

Yash should volunteer to go up and win POV

bbfan

GO BARRET! WOOOO

Kelly

He should put Angela and Dee up, but not Devens. But I also think that if it is all 3, then at least there is that extra chance to take yourself off. I would hope it would be Devens being able to take himself down, and then put Yash up. Realistically, if Dee or Angela (or even Devens, which I would hate to see go) would not have the numbers to keep one of them and one could potentially go. I want Dee gone so bad. It is a game.

Opinion Overload

Barrett could be the first HOH in BB history who spends more time outside his HOH room than in it. Meanwhile, the girls are hiding in the time machine. But Melody? She’ll do whatever it takes.

Opinion Overload

I actually love that this sneaky middle-ass game player won. It looked great for him when everyone else was taking the shots, but now that he’s HOH he’s screwed. Every move he makes exposes where he really stands and will piss someone off. He actually had a better position before winning HOH, and should have been smarter like Yash. This is exactly what happens with weak, passive gameplay on BB. Barrett has cashed in all his coupons, and now he has to pay.

bb4eva

If Barrett sticks to his plan to nom the 3 icons & keep both Melody & Drew safe, that could come back to bite him. If Drew wins the veto & uses it on Rick or Dee, the other one could win the Blockbuster again, just like Rick did last week, leaving only pathetic disgusting Angela to evict on Barrett’s HOH.
After such a promising start, that would be a sad end to his watch.

whywecanthavenicethings

In that case, Yash is renom. He’s going to be evicted regardless of who he’s up against, even if he loses BB.

bb4eva

My math is worse than Angela was to season26’s Matt. If Drew takes Devens down with the veto & Dee wins the Blockbuster, then Angela won’t be evicted. Whichever non-icon Barrett noms will be evicted on Barrett’s HOH. Drew, Devens & Dee will save Angela, leaving only 2 votes to try to save the other seat filler. Either Yash or Taylor will be evicted on what had begun as such a promising HOH for Barrett.
DUH!

Opinion Overload

Will this be double or triple nominations this week?

Opinion Overload

No, this was a legitimate question whether the blockbuster was still active (which we now know is true). Interestingly, for the -3 responses I’m curious to what you were thinking with the question? Maybe a little too trigger happy?

DDD

If Barret nominates all 3 icons, it will be the biggest move of the season. And it would make him, not only a target of the icons, but a target of the entire House, since he would become the biggest threat to win.

d...

nah, you need to break up people working together. so that still means targetting the remaining icons plus drew. barrett is on an island. he shouldn’t be targetted until final 5.

Opinion Overload

At the minute it may, I and agree. He’d be putting a huge target on himself, and once an Icon goes, Yash and the remaining Icons can still put Ferrett up because Yash’s deal protects Dee, Angela and Devens. All for the purposes of bitterness and ego, trying to look like a big boy in everyone’s eyes, he could make the biggest move of the season and still be the next one out.

whoknows

Come on Barrett! All 3 icons with Yash as renom!

Paso Doble

So, what happens to the BB Bribe if Dee is evicted?? There’s an argument to be made that it should be null at that point. Can Yash THEN put up Devens and/or Angela?? Paints a different target on Dee this week if so.

un autre nom

The newbs this season have a bizarre ingrained logic dissonance. They consider the moves that are right and logical for their own games are the moves the HOH should make… without considering if that move is right and logical for the HOH’s game.
How many times have we seen Taylor, Melody and Yash each make this leap?
In most cases they don’t even talk to the HOH about it. They just get pissy about what “should” be for their own games, and make zero effort to give their take to the HOH themselves…
It’s sort of triggering.
At this point I don’t see a world where Taylor or Melody CAN win. But they are going to be as self involved as a stuntcast in being grumpy about an HOH not playing the game according to what is best for them.

When the two discussed the unfair advantage of the stuntcasts… my brain immediately said well… stuntcasts this season get far because they walked in with the advantage of production safety until jury. Usually ONE of the multiple stunts (on those rare seasons gets sniped… but it is usually another stunt that does the sniping). The entire premise of gameplay from a pre-production point of view would be “how do we bring them in and ensure they stay around… go come up with new ways so that we don’t lose money on bringing them here for more than we are paying the rest.” I can just see the crew of writers and unit directors spit balling…. hey lets toss Rachel in a volcano and call THAT our early exit for a stuntcast… then hand the others powers.

Still no one on one time. So all the side bitching and complaining is just setting up the gird your loins for the inevitable (in their minds) nominations that keep them on the bottom.

Opinion Overload

Why Barrett shouldn’t nominate all three Icons?

1. The moment all three Icons hit the block, he has openly declared war on them. Even if one goes, the other two now know exactly who took the shot, while Drew also starts questioning their alliance.

2. He gains very little for the risk. Barrett doesn’t control which Icon leaves, and because of the Yash deal, the remaining Icons are still protected if Yash wins HOH next week. Barrett could blow up his game just to become the biggest target.

un autre nom

Voter breakdown. This is not a break the tie week. 3 votes controls the eviction.
Variations of Nominataions:
Dee, Angela Devins. One wins veto Yash renom into block buster.
Danger Yash leaves comes down to Drew if Yash is on the block instead of 2 icons.
Dee, Angela, Yash. Lets say Devens wins veto, takes down a stunt. Taylor replacement into the block buster. Drew is still the danger vote.

Best guarantee to get rid of an Icon is Drew replacement that Barrett will not do. It guarantees with higher accuracy that an Icon leaves.

IF Barrett noms from Icons and from the rebellion… he pisses off both sides unnecessarily. But if he renoms from the rebellion he has cause with either Yash (bribe) or Drew (Devens jockstrap).
Chances are iffy no matter what. But at this point in the game with a 3 vote control, it is the only time logistically that it IS possible to ensure an Icon goes.
With the amount of times they have disregarded Barrett… it is what they deserve.

What is Barrett longevity if he does not take a shot? Last week they wanted him to volunteer as renom, and told him to his face they didn’t trust him. On the other side there is already rumbling that he will win. He’s pooched either way, so might as well make the move that is most likely to make an impact on the game.

Opinion Overload

I agree Barrett may be screwed either way, and this is probably his best chance to take a shot. My problem is he’s not just burning the Icons. He’s burning Drew, potentially Yash, and giving up the middle that kept him safe. He could have taken a shot (assuming this goes off) and still put up Y and T and try to backdoor an Icon, without making himself the biggest target in the house. Angela is going to be a hot mess anyway so I’d have thown her up with Y and T.

d...

yeah, drew on the block as replacement guarantees an icon goes home. yash as replacement hands control of the vote to the icons. drew should be the replacement, though i understand barrett thinking he can control drew’s vote enough not to put drew at risk.

un autre nom

One on one revelation:
Dee reveals the bribe details to Barrett.
I know I heard Drew and Barrett talk about the bribe and how Melody did not know it was for the stunts not just Dee.
So…. the revelation feels odd to me.
Anyway….
In Dee’s mind she’s put Yash in the crosshairs for accepting the bribe.
Problem:
She’s also given justification for her own nomination because she MADE the bribe.
She made a bribe that…. forgot Barrett existed. His safety wasn’t a concern.

Anyone else thinking okay… so now the renom if needed is Yash but the noms are pretty sure to be the Stunts now with a rock solid reason to break up the band that was xovers?

anonymous

angela comparing to cookout is gold

Opinion Overload

Ferrett – I want a newbie to win. Mellory – Me too.

So you aren’t going to try out for other reality shows? And if you do get on those shows and BB invites you back one day…

Idiots. Play the game with smarts, stop whining and try and win. You do that and you may get an invite back. Gen Z MO.

Gizmo

Laughable that Dee volunteered as a have not,she doesn’t follow the rules and gets away with it.
Good job

Opinion Overload

He had the information to make a much smarter decision and still seems determined to make the big move. That’s ego over strategy. If he were smarter than half-dumb, he would drive a split in the icons. Plus, the blindness from blond hair and gold-digging moves should wake him up but the cells are in the wrong department.

un autre nom

Here is the issue. If not now when. There are only 3 weeks left.
To say it is too soon to take the shot at the icons?
Why? With three weeks left? It has to be done if anyone has ANY interest in winning.

Opinion Overload

Can someone please confirm that if there was a flip counter, Devens would have the least amount than anyone. Angela will have massive regrets when she gets home.
