Who Won Big Brother 16?

Derrick won Big Brother 16 by a 7–2 jury vote over Cody. He reached the finale without ever being nominated for eviction, while quietly sitting at the center of the season’s dominant alliances and maintaining a final-two deal with Cody called the Hitmen.

The final decision came down to Cody. After winning the third and final part of the Final HOH, Cody evicted Victoria and honored the Hitmen deal by taking Derrick to the final two. That gave the jury a choice between the two players who had worked together through most of the season.

The jury gave Derrick seven votes to win. Cody received two. OBB’s original Big Brother 16 finale results recorded the vote as it happened on September 24, 2014.

How Did the Big Brother 16 Jury Vote?

Jocasta: Cody
Hayden: Derrick
Zach: Derrick
Donny: Cody
Nicole: Derrick
Christine: Derrick
Frankie: Derrick
Caleb: Derrick
Victoria: Derrick

Jocasta and Donny were Cody’s two votes. The other seven jurors voted for Derrick. Big Brother 16 used a nine-person Big Brother jury.

Who Won the Big Brother 16 Final HOH?

Part 1: Cody defeated Derrick and Victoria.
Part 2: Derrick defeated Victoria.
Part 3: Cody defeated Derrick.
Final decision: Cody evicted Victoria and took Derrick to the final two.

Cody therefore controlled the last eviction of the season. He could take either Derrick or Victoria to the final two and chose Derrick, keeping the Hitmen together through the finale.

How Did Derrick Win Big Brother 16?

Derrick’s game was built around influence without exposure. He spent the season inside the groups controlling the votes while avoiding the nomination block entirely. The early Bomb Squad fractured, but a smaller core called the Detonators brought Derrick, Cody, Frankie, Christine and Zach together. Inside that structure, Derrick and Cody had the Hitmen.

The Hitmen became the relationship that mattered at the end. Derrick and Cody shared information, shaped votes and protected one another while other members of the majority alliance became targets. Derrick was also part of Team America with Donny and Frankie, giving him another working relationship with players outside his closest final-two deal.

The unusual part is what did not happen: Derrick was never nominated for eviction during the season. OBB’s Big Brother strategy archive uses his BB16 game as one of the clearest examples of hiding a threat while remaining connected to the people in power.

What Were the Big Brother 16 Twists?

Battle of the Block

Big Brother 16 introduced Battle of the Block. For the first eight weeks, two houseguests became HOH and each nominated two people. The four nominees competed in pairs. The winning pair came off the block and the HOH who nominated them was dethroned, leaving the other HOH in control of the week.

The twist changed nomination strategy immediately. HOHs could coordinate their nominations, nominees could be asked to throw the competition, and an HOH could lose power before the veto was even played.

Team America

Team America was a viewer-controlled secret alliance. The public ultimately placed Donny, Derrick and Frankie on the team and gave them missions to complete inside the house for cash rewards. The three were not otherwise one unified game alliance: each had separate loyalties and targets outside the twist.

Jury Return

After the first four members of the jury had been evicted, Jocasta, Hayden, Nicole and Zach competed for a way back into the game. Nicole won and returned. She survived one more eviction cycle before leaving again by a 4–0 vote. The season is one of the years in which an already-seated juror returned to the game.

The Rewind Button

Late in the season, the houseguests found and pressed a button without knowing exactly what it would do. The following eviction was stopped and the week was reset. Frankie’s HOH, his nominations and his veto win were erased, and the final five played the week again. Frankie was evicted when the replayed week ended.

Did Big Brother 16 Introduce BB Comics?

Yes. Big Brother 16 was the first season to run BB Comics. Christine won the debut competition, which turned the houseguests into comic-book characters and tested how accurately the players could identify the correct covers. The competition became a recurring Big Brother fixture after its BB16 debut.

What Were the Major Big Brother 16 Alliances?

The early game was crowded with alliances, many of them overlapping and some lasting only a few days. The Bomb Squad was the first large power structure, but Devin’s aggressive play helped tear it apart. The Detonators later became the more important five-person core of Derrick, Cody, Frankie, Christine and Zach.

Inside all of that sat the Hitmen: Derrick and Cody’s final-two deal. Unlike many of the season’s larger groups, it lasted. The two reached the final three with Victoria and then the final two together.

Other relationships mattered as well. Nicole and Hayden developed a showmance they tried to keep quiet, Frankie and Zach became closely associated as Zankie, and the house treated Cody and Christine’s closeness as something more than either described it as. OBB tracks those relationships in the Big Brother showmance and flirtmance archive.

Who Won America’s Favorite Player on Big Brother 16?

Donny won America’s Favorite Player. The finale revealed Donny, Nicole and Zach as the top three vote-getters, with Donny taking the $25,000 prize.

Why Does Big Brother 16 Matter?

Big Brother 16 sits at an important point in the modern game. Battle of the Block encouraged large alliances to control multiple nomination seats at once. The Hitmen showed how a hidden pair could operate inside a larger voting structure. Derrick completed the season without being nominated and still convinced the person holding the Final HOH to take him to the end.

The season also created pieces of Big Brother that lasted beyond 2014. Battle of the Block returned the following year, while BB Comics became one of the show’s recurring competitions. Team America was specific to BB16, but it was another experiment in giving the audience direct influence over events inside the house.
