Big Brother 28: Julie Chen Moonves Teases Season’s Biggest Secret

The wait for Big Brother 28 is almost over, and while CBS is still keeping the season’s biggest surprise under lock and key, Julie Chen Moonves continues to drop just enough hints to keep fans guessing.

Over the past few days, CBS has officially confirmed several details about the new season, including extended premiere episodes, the return of the Live Feeds, and a new addition to Big Brother: Unlocked. But it’s Julie’s latest comments that have everyone wondering if something much bigger is about to shake up the game.

Julie Says It’ll All Make Sense… Eventually

In a recent interview promoting the new season, Julie described Big Brother 28 as having “something for everyone” before teasing that fans will understand what makes this season so special once they actually start watching.

It’s an interesting choice of words.

Instead of teasing a shocking premiere twist or an over-the-top competition, Julie made it sound like the season’s biggest surprise is something that unfolds over time. That’s led many fans to believe the central twist could impact the entire summer rather than just the opening week.

What Could CBS Be Hiding?

As always, the fan theories are running wild.

Could this be the rumored time-travel season that’s been making the rounds online? Maybe—but CBS hasn’t confirmed any of those reports.

Another possibility is that the game itself has been redesigned. Perhaps alliances, nominations, or even evictions won’t work quite the way we’ve come to expect. Julie’s comments certainly make it sound like viewers won’t immediately understand the full picture.

Then again, this is Big Brother, and the producers love misdirection.

What if “biggest season ever” has nothing to do with returning players or time travel at all?

Could CBS be planning:

  • A season-long twist that evolves week after week?
  • Hidden powers that change the game throughout the summer?
  • Secret house relationships?
  • Multiple games happening at the same time?
  • A completely new format no one has guessed yet?
  • Or maybe Frankie Grande is coming back to push a “Rewind” button (like how he led the charge and was one of the houseguests who pushed the mysterious “Rewind” button and activated the game reset during Week 11 of Big Brother 16.) Past house guests getting a second / third / forth chance at playing the game??

Right now, every possibility is still on the table.

CBS Confirms Extended Premiere Episodes

While the biggest twist remains a mystery, CBS has officially announced that fans will get even more Big Brother during premiere week.

The Season 28 premiere on Thursday, July 9, will run 90 minutes, giving producers extra time to introduce the houseguests and whatever surprises await them.

The Sunday, July 12 episode will also be expanded to 90 minutes, suggesting there may be more happening during opening week than usual.

Could that extra half-hour be needed to explain a complicated new twist?

It’s certainly possible.

Live Feeds Are Back

One question fans no longer have to worry about is the status of the Live Feeds.

CBS has confirmed that the feeds will once again return for Big Brother 28, allowing viewers to watch the game unfold around the clock after the premiere.

For many longtime fans, that’s still the best way to experience the season—and often the quickest way to discover twists before they make the television episodes. Because Big Brother 28 also has a special 90-minute premiere on Thursday, July 9 and a second 90-minute episode on Sunday, July 12, we anticipate CBS to delay the feeds until after the Sunday episode has aired nationwide. This is speculation, not an official announcement. We’ll let  you know when CBS officially states when the live feeds will begin..

Big Brother: Unlocked Gets a Live Audience

CBS also confirmed that Big Brother: Unlocked will return this season.

The biggest change? The weekly companion show will now feature a live studio audience, giving the series a little more energy while continuing to provide exclusive footage, interviews, and analysis throughout the summer.

It’s another sign that CBS is putting extra attention into celebrating the franchise’s milestone season.

Is This Really the “Biggest Season Ever?”

CBS has repeatedly promoted Big Brother 28 as the “biggest season ever.”

Normally we’d chalk that up to standard television marketing.

But with Julie continuing to hint that fans simply don’t know the full story yet, it’s starting to feel like there’s more behind the slogan.

Whether that’s because of a new format, a season-long twist, or something no one has managed to leak remains to be seen.

One thing is certain—CBS is doing an impressive job keeping this season’s biggest secret exactly that.

And if Julie Chen Moonves is right, we’ll all understand what she’s been teasing soon enough.

What do you think the central twist is? Is CBS about to reinvent Big Brother, or are we reading too much into Julie’s comments? Share your theories in the comments below!
