On the last full day in the house, Devens recited the whole season out loud and asked Drew whether to build his final speech around being a have-not. Drew said yes. Taylor started perming her hair, and she and Devens watched the planes overhead for their families. Three are left on Big Brother 28, and the finale is Thursday.
Final three: Taylor, Drew and Devens. Taylor won part one of the final HOH and Devens won part two. They meet in part three at Thursday’s finale.
Devens’ pitch: “So every time I had a chance in this game to take a big swing, I took it.”
Drew’s pitch: “Well, guys, I could say I prepared a speech, but that’d be a lie.”
10:20 AM — Drew and Devens
Drew: “Last full day.”
Devens: “Yeah, man.”
Drew: “Unreal.”
Devens: “I am ready to get back to regular life.”
Drew: “Yeah, I can see both sides.”
Drew: “I can see why you would definitely want to, and I can see why I’m living the dream.”
Drew: “I think you’ve got people out there that it’s important for you to be there for.”
Devens: “Yes… I think I do.”
Devens: “I think you also have a bunch of people and dogs ready to have you back in their lives.”
Drew: “I think so. Probably ready to have me back, but they don’t need me…”
Devens: “I have different responsibilities, but I think they both need us.”
Drew: “If they were like, three, one, do this again, I’d be like, f— yeah.”
10:54 AM — Devens
Devens: “So every time I had a chance in this game to take a big swing, I took it.”
Devens: “I won more comps than anybody in the house. I was on the right side of every vote and every eviction. It went the way I wanted it to.”
Devens: “I was the last person in the house to be put on the block. And even then, it’s because I volunteered to be the renom to help out my Crossover alliance.”
Devens: “Three times I saw the block. Twice I took myself off with the Blockbuster. And then on a double eviction, I won veto. I wasn’t vulnerable to the eviction vote until the final four of the game.”
Devens: “I tried hard to separate gameplay and personal in this. I know you said I was a killer and that’s not something I was trying to hide.”
Devens: “…I’m the only person that ever played veto on someone else, and I did it twice.”
Devens: “I’m one of only two people who was a have-not three times.”
11:16 AM — Devens and Drew
Devens: “Ten people won HOH. Eight people won Blockbuster. Eight people won veto. Nine times the veto was used on themselves. Three times it wasn’t used. Twice it was used on other people. Both times were me, including the Diamond Power of Veto.”
Devens: “Day one. Jason, Chuk, and Rome win safety. Dee wins HOH in six million BC. She puts up Taylor, Mallory, and Yash.”
Devens: “Mallory wins the pipe challenge, becoming the Pipe Queen… Yash wins Blockbuster. Ashley goes home. 14-0 vote.”
Devens: “…Then we start the final HOH, go back to 1752 Philadelphia to help Ben Franklin discover electricity. Taylor crushes and wins that first part one of the challenge.”
Devens: “Dude, the way I have got this whole game memorized is just preposterous. It’s just ridiculous. Why is it taking up so much space in my brain?”
Devens: “If I ask you a question, will you give me an honest opinion?”
Devens: “Is it a good idea to base most of my final speech off being a have-not for three weeks?”
Drew: “Yes. I think so. I think so.”
11:53 AM — Devens and Drew (Outer Bedroom)
Their talk show: Two Boys in Two Chairs.
Devens: “What would the price point have to be on a robot that mowed your lawn, swept your house, you know, the general house?”
Devens: “Just one that’s more stable, because a bipedal robot is more likely to fall. And if it falls on you or an animal, it could hurt or damage you or that animal. Whereas what if you just rolled around a little bit?”
Drew: “…So we’re just trying to prove to ourselves and to science and to those robots that we too are smart.”
Drew: “So my favorite eviction was definitely Rome’s. I mean, the magic in the air that night when he left and he swept Lyric away, whoo, dipped her down and gave her one last kiss goodbye.”
Drew: “And then she proceeded to say, with one foot still in the building from Rome, I definitely voted him out. If that isn’t true love, I don’t know what is.”
Devens: “…And then as he walked out the door, she came up and said, I did not vote for him to stay. You have to believe me. I voted him out. And I said, Lyric, I wouldn’t even mind if you did vote for him to stay. And she said, I didn’t.”
Drew: “So, Devens, what was your favorite competition this summer?”
Devens: “I would say Honorable Mention. I enjoyed the Rainbow Road one that Barrett won. You didn’t get to participate.”
Drew: “I didn’t, but I got to wear a funny costume.”
Devens: “You sure did, Drew.”
Devens: “You might be surprised by my answer of the most fun one because I injured my back pretty badly. Wiping out. But I thought the wet and wild was…”
Devens: “I really went for it. I can tell you that. All gas. No brakes.”
Taylor comes in.
Taylor: “Guess the time I went to sleep last night. Just guess.”
Taylor: “I finished at like 3.”
Devens: “Is that when you went to bed also?”
Drew: “No, I went to bed pretty soon after you. I was like, bed time. I’m angry and old.”
12:15 PM — Drew, Devens
Devens: “Drew, enough with washing your clothes. You’re becoming very one-dimensional. It’s like all you do is wash your clothes.”
Devens: “Why are you only washing your clothes all summer? It’s like, don’t you know there’s a game going on?”
Devens: “I felt like we were still on two boys and two chairs. You know how people love the drama on that show.”
Devens: “My brain is so full of use. Well, maybe useless. Maybe very useful. Tomorrow at 7 p.m., it will be useless information about season 28 of Big Brother. Until then, maybe it will be very useful information about season 28 of Big Brother. Hard to say.”
Drew: “I’m thinking about, I think today I might make up a speech.”
Devens: “Dude. I’m telling you, I keep going different directions with that speech. Only being one minute and whatnot.”
Drew: “But the speech is last.”
Devens: “The longer I make this pool game go, the less time you have to work on your speech.”
Drew: “I should stop saying how much I don’t have a speech. I wish I was lying about it, too.”
Devens: “Now that I’ve been in the Big Brother house, I know that… It’s a lot harder than it looks. There are different perspectives on things. I never could have guessed that without experiencing it myself.”
Drew: “I wonder what Taylor’s perspective is.”
Devens: “That would be an interesting thing to find out. Because perspective is something you can also use in art. Like, to make a road look like it goes off into the distance.”
Drew: “Well, guys, I could say I prepared a speech, but that’d be a lie. And you know one thing, I’d love to do that in this game. So here’s where I come clean on all my lies.”
Drew: “Lie two. I’ve never seen Big Brother. I don’t know what the show is.”
Devens: “I’m kind of confused… You’re talking pretty slow. There’s only a minute.”
Drew: “Well, let me just fast forward.”
Devens: “I think Melody probably hates me.”
Drew: “Probably after you smashed the urn thing.”
Devens: “I doubt that that helped our relationship… But she had just put me up against Dee, like, a few days earlier.”
Drew: “Yeah, so it’s like, what do you expect?”
Devens: “I did nominate her my second HOH, but that was after she, like, wanted to take me out of that competition.”
Drew: “No, I think you guys disliked each other for valid reasons.”
Drew: “You know whose favorite season was 16 in this house? He mentioned it a couple times. It was Kamu.”
Devens: “I think he wanted everyone to know that. I really like Kamu a lot, and I’m excited to see him. He’s definitely one of the people I’m excited to see at the finale, but I’m also a little nervous about it. Because I don’t know for certain that he will be excited to see me.”
Drew: “I like to think that Kamu’s a guy who respects the game.”
Drew: “And I think he probably watched the season back already. And he’s going to be like, oh, everything makes a lot more sense now.”
Devens: “It’ll be interesting to see how they feel about Barrett because, again, I love Barrett. Like, easily one of my favorite people to talk to and hang out with in the house. And probably one of the people I’m most excited to hang out with outside of the house.”
Devens: “If the whole time he just didn’t like me, I would legitimately be really sad. Like, I would love to be like, oh, who cares? Like, whatever. But it’s not true at all.”
Taylor: “So when I get out of here, I will be cutting my hair back into a bob.”
12:54 PM — Taylor, Devens and Drew (Backyard)
Taylor: “I got my money on their coming today because I just think about, like, the possibilities of things going wrong tomorrow.”
Devens: “Oh, I don’t think they’re coming tomorrow.”
Devens: “I think they’re coming either today or yesterday.”
Taylor: “Yeah, tomorrow is, like… That’s, like, cutting too close.”
Taylor: “Oh, my God. My mom.”
Taylor: “Is it their first time in L.A.?”
Devens: “No, they were here earlier this year for the Survivor 50 finale.”
Devens: “Their lives are weird… We just go to finales of shows.”
Devens: “Yeah, sometimes I’m like, oh, that’s cool that their schools are watching. And other times I’m like, ooh. I just saw your dad fall in the wet and wild challenge.”
Drew: “Your dad’s broken. I just saw your dad cry last night.”
Taylor: “I’m going to come back with straight hair.”
Devens: “Too many hairstyles to keep up with in a short period of time. I’m going to lose it.”
Drew: “Somebody in this house is going to be $750,000 richer.”
Drew: “Dude. I really hope it’s one of us.”
Devens: “Yeah, I would like that.”
Drew: “But if it’s her, I guess that’s cool. But not as cool.”
Devens: “I’m glad that one of us three is going to get a lot more money. Because, like, you two having more money is good for you and not bad for me. So I’ll be happy about it.”
Drew: “At what point was the Crossover, like, not a thing?”
Drew: “Because I think we got lost in the sauce for a second.”
Devens: “I think it definitely was a thing up until Barrett. But then it kind of became not a thing because I kind of had to campaign against Angela.”
Devens: “So I feel like up until week nine. But then I feel like you and Dee and I found each other again.”
Devens says he’d have been more open to Barrett coming back, if not for Barrett’s speeches.
Taylor: “So we take the Vaseline, like I said, it’s a protective… You put it around your edges… Just so you don’t burn your skin… Around your ear, on your ear.”
