CBS lawsuit Against ABC

ABC Responds to Lawsuit – There’s Nothing Secret About Big Brother!

CBS lawsuit Against ABC

With “The Glass House” series premiere set to air on June 18th, 2012 there is still a black cloud looming over head with regard to the lawsuit filed by CBS. Despite the claims that ABC stole trade secrets from CBS, “The Glass House” is still going full steam ahead with its new reality series. Evidence that ABC is moving forward with their scheduled show is that they just released their first promotional commercial for The Glass House.

ABC responds to CBS’s claims that they have stolen their “Big Brother” trade secrets in the making of “The Glass House” saying that NOTHING about Big Brother is a secret. ABC has filed their response to the copyright infringement lawsuit filed by CBS – requesting the presiding judge to dismiss the “over-the-top” lawsuit as soon as possible.

In the court documents, ABC responds by saying the insinuation that “The Glass House” is stealing trade secrets is “outrageous” adding:

“there is nothing secret about editing a program with multiple feeds together or developing a narrative structure for it. That is reality TV.”

ABC continues saying that having contestants in isolation with hidden cameras and having them compete in challenges is nothing special, and definitely not considered to be a trade secret. ABC also asserts that there are significant differences between “Big Brother” and “The Glass House”, the biggest difference being that their show will be a team orientated game, whereas, Big Brother portrays the “every man for himself theme.”

ABC laughed at the claim that 19 former CBS Big Brother employees defected to work on “The Glass House. The ABC network reports that the fundamental reason why so many big brother employees left to join work for ABC is because the Big Brother producers run a reality tv sweatshop. Adding that:

“it is common knowledge in the industry that low pay and the 24 hours a day/7 days a week filming schedule makes life on the Big Brother set difficult.”

ABC also responded to lawsuit by adding:

“That employees prefer a different show with benefits and better hours is hardly evidence of a trade secret violation.”

ABC has asked the presiding judge to deny all demands made by CBS so that it can produce its scheduled reality tv show in a cost effective and timely manner.

As of yet, the judge has not made a ruling regarding CBS’s demands or claims.

That’s like making a new reality show, of a group of people on an island, and defending the idea that it resembles survivor. The “house of cameras” idea is copyrighted to big brother… I don’t understand how they DIDN’T see a law suit coming.

I think they should have big brother in the summer and glass house be in the winter. If you like big brother you can watch it in the summer and you can watch glass house in the winter. None of the shows would lose viewers since it is in different seasons

Come on now. Let’s watch both.
