FYI…Cotton pickin’ isn’t a racist comment. Lol…it’s a phrase we use in the south. Usually used to replace bad words. Sorry you got so much slack Jim. I guess it wouldn’t have mattered if you’d have used vulgar words. Oh well…people have a lot to learn and shouldn’t assume everything is racist just because the phrase was used in referance with a black woman. (Libra)

Jim Spurgeon’s comment was really mean. Although you may not like someone’s game play, there is no need to say hurtful things about them.
i wouldn’t be shocked if jim spurgeon and “southerncharm” were the same person….the point is that IS derogatory phrase to use because it is being used against an african american person. Cotton picking was something black slaves had to do in the past, so it is considered offensive, although you may not find it or mean it to be offensive yourself, you are on the internet where there are people of all races here, you don’t know what race they are, and you could in fact be offending them so please use your discretion.
Conversate is not a word!!! The correct term is converse!!! If you type conversate you will see it comes up as a typo because it is not the correct word. You converse with someone not conversate LOL!
I agree with Tex and bbfan. Converse is the correct terminology. You don’t reverserate (reverse) your car do you?
I have to say that if Angie goes this week… Dan will transition nicely into the Memphis, Jessie, and Michelle alliance. I feel Keesha is nominating Angie because she is jealous of her.

Wow, you know that there were plenty white folk picking cotton too. Pretty much anybody that was poor and from the south in those days probably did it at one point or another. I know plenty of white folk in this area did it well into the 1940s.
It could have been meant as a racist jab but I can vouch for the fact that white and black folk alike right here in the south use that term all of the time. Those who don’t, well they probably aren’t from around here.
So if you have a cotton picking problem with that, maybe it’s the little racist-paranoid voice that lives in your head and not the person that said it.
Oh, and before anyone can say it, the name Boy Oh Boy is not a racist comment either. Sheesh!
